In the late 1920's, Adrian Martin Visbeen, Sr. began working for his father and uncle who were then trading as Visbeen Brothers. After learning his trade, Adrian went into business for himself and in 1941 registered in Bergen County as Visbeen Construction Company. Seven years later, in 1948, the company moved into offices at our present location on Goffle Road in Ridgewood. During the 1950's Adrian's two sons, Albert and Adrian, Jr., joined the company. During the 1980's the next generation of Visbeens, David, Adrian A., James and Kenneth came to work for the company and in 1990 were welcomed as partners. Today David, James, and Kenneth own and manage the day-to-day operations of Visbeen Construction Company. In its early years, most of the company's work involved church, synagogue, and school construction. Since its founding, Visbeen Construction has built well over seventy-five ecclesiastical buildings in Northern New Jersey. Among them are the Ridgewood Methodist and Mount Carmel Churches in Ridgewood; Holy Cross Lutheran in Springfield, Temple Emeth in Teaneck; Cornerstone Christian and Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff; The Presbyterian Church of New Providence, and The Barnert Temples in Paterson and Franklin Lakes. As the demand for church and synagogue work lessened, the company moved into other areas of construction including retail, banking, institutional, and medical construction. Clients over the years have included The Valley Hospital, Eastern Christian School Association, Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains, Fleet Bank, The Ridgewood Country Club, The Alpine Country Club, and The Christian Health Care Center, as well as a large number of individual medical suites throughout Bergen County. As the market continues to change, Visbeen Construction continues to adapt. As well as continuing to offer general contracting and construction management services, we now also provide consulting services. Project scheduling, schematic estimating, constructability analysis, and project supervision are among the services available. On May 15, 2006 Visbeen Construction celebrated 65 of years of providing excellence in building and service. Today, family involvement in every phase of our work and a limited volume ensure that our customers will receive the same high level of performance that established our company's reputation. |
